We all know and love S. Morgenstern's classic tale The Princess Bride, and we are eternally grateful to Goldman for abridging it. Trust me, the unabridged was extremely hard to get through. Really, none of us need sixty-six pages of Florinise history, or fifty-six and a half pages of packing. I deeply apologize if I have offended any Florinise scholars or any devout believers in packing.
Goldman has recently been hoping to have the opportunity to abridge Buttercup's Baby, Morgenstern's intended sequel to The Princess Bride. While in Florin doing research for this new project, among Morgenstern's things he discovered The Princess Bride diary. This diary included many entries by Morgenstern while he had been in the process of writing The Princess Bride, as well as many letters and journal entries from historical figures such as Princess Buttercup, Westley, Prince Humperdinck, as well as many others.
I believe that now is the right time to share these first hand accounts with the public. The contents of those letters and journals now make up the content of this blog. Please enjoy delving deeper into the personal words of those who lived the events of S. Morgenstern's The Princess Bride.
Please note, similar to Goldman's work with Morgenstern's The Princess Bride, I will be putting my own personal notes and commentary in italics.
